The CALL relies on dedicated volunteers for much of the work we do.

If you have time to invest, we have a place where you can be part of changing the future for families and children in your community.

Church Reps

  • Raise awareness of the foster care crisis in our community
  • Encourage those families within your church body who are foster families or going through the process.
  • Promote events and Info Meetings organized by The CALL
  • Serve as a resource about The CALL to members in your church

Each church team ideally consists of 3-4 members.

Prayer Team

  • Provide periodic emails with prayer requestes
  • Pray over those requests

Volunteer Driver

  • Provide transportation for foster children to appointments as needed
  • Prerequisite: Have reliable vehicle; Complete background check/volunteer packet for DHS
  • Mileage can be reimbursed

Barnabas Team

  • Come alongside one foster or adoptive family recruited by The CALL with prayer, love and encouragement
  • You’ll be given the name of one family going through the foster or adoption process, to love and care for for the next 12 months. Call often, send notes, ask how you can pray for them, take a meal, etc. This wil be an amazing opportunity!

Church Recruitment Team

  • Strategic networking committee led by County Coordinator
  • Meets once a month during noon hour
  • Goal: Secure 10 new church reps in our county

Fundraising Team

  • Organizes special fundraising events benefitting The CALL
  • Meets once a month during noon hour

The CALL Mall

  • Works at The CALL Mall location once a month — Saturday 10-1 — Spring, Summer or Fall rotations
  • Help sort clothing; help foster families “shop”; organize new item donations
  • Great way to serve with your older children!

Bedside Angels

  • Certain age groups require adult sitters when in the hospital
  • No nursing care required
  • Prerequisite: Complete background check packet

DHS Office Help

  • Assists DCFS Liaison/Adoption Specialists at the local DHS Office with copying, filing, etc.
  • Serve one morning a week; 6 month committment
  • Prerequisite: Complete background check/volunteer packet for DHS

Social Work Team

  • Conducts 3 or more homestudies for families recuited by The CALL annually
  • Critical part of getting families opened and ready in a timely manner
  • Prerequisite: SAFE Training Course (provided by DHS or The CALL

Foster Teen Mentor

  • Meets with teen or young adult in foster care at least twice per month
  • Helps them build life skills and lifelong connections
  • Prerequisite: Complete background check/volunteer packet for DHS

Pride Training Team

  • Leads two weekends per year of PRIDE Foster/Adopt Training through The CALL
  • Prerequisite: College Degree; Trainer Application; Attend 3-day Trainer Training

Event Recruitment Team

  • Staff a booth at community events showcasing The CALL
  • Available on evenings or weekends for specific ministry fairs, citywide events or church services
  • Prerequisite: Attend orientation; Sign statement of faith and standards agreement
