To celebrate National Foster Care Awareness month, The CALL partnered with the River Valley Adoption Coalition and Total Medical Supply to host a DCFS appreciation lunch. On Thursday, May 3 we held a lunch for the Sebastian County team at Covenant Presbyterian in downtown Ft Smith. The next day we traveled to Crawford County and served those employees at the new New Start for Children and Families building on Kibler Road.

Michael Christian, from Total Medical supply donated the hamburger meat and buns for both lunches and RVAC donated, chips, paper products and drinks to the lunch.
We had a special guest at Sebastian County, Paul Bush one of our foster parents, on the grill to serve up delicious hamburgers to all the employees who came. Winston and Linda Turpin from Central Christian grilled for us on Friday, in Van Buren. Another special thank you needs to go to Cindy Fink, who volunteers for us on a regular basis and serves on our Advisory Committee.

We also had Renee Durham from Harry Robinson stop by with goody bags while we were in Sebastian County. That was such a nice surprise and the all the employees participated in a drawing held by TMS and had the chance to win several awesome prizes. Both days were a big success with everyone having a good time and leaving with a full belly.

The CALL partners closely with our local DCFS to recruit and train foster homes. Our continuing partnership is vital to providing the over 700 children in care with a loving and stable home environment in which they can grow and learn. Our local DCFS unit works tirelessly to provide many types of service to those in our community. Ranging from intervention and Protective Services to Foster and Adoptive care. Our local group is also committed to reunification with the birth family and uses all means available to provide parenting classes, case plans and counseling options to those in our community who are struggling. If you would like the chance to join us as we work to provide a future and a hope for kids and youth in foster care, please call Emily at 479-353-0767 or email etreadaway@thecallinarkansas.org.
