The CALL in Conway and Faulkner Counties is excited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The CALL in Arkansas. During 2017, we will take a step into the next decade by renovating the old Second Baptist Church parsonage in Conway. It will become The CALL House, a multi-purpose facility for different functions of the local CALL.
Along with office space, the new facility will house the CALL Mall to provide adequate space for foster parents to pick up clothing and other items for the foster children in their care. A visitation room will also be available for biological families to visit with their children under the supervision of their case worker. Resources will be made available for the bio families to help guide them to programs to benefit their family. There are two playgrounds on site that will be an amazing asset to children and families using the CALL House for many different reasons.
The CALL House will enable our counties to support DCFS in many ways. Many children are taken into care in desperate need of a shower and new clothes before going to their foster home. The bathroom will be equipped with clean towels, hygiene products and lice kits. There will be a child friendly room on site where children will be comfortable reading, resting or playing with toys while their caseworker secures a more permanent place. The kitchen will be stocked with snacks for the children during visits or while they wait for a placement. The training space can also be utilized by DCFS or other groups for meetings or small luncheons.
In May, we hosted our First Annual Beauty in Brokenness Gala to begin raising the funds needed for the renovation projects. Many community churches, organizations and individuals have already expressed a desire to help by offering skill, ability and resources to make this project a reality. We are all excited to begin this project and to work with all of those who have already committed to assist and those yet to step forward. The gala gave many of these people a better insight to the important work done by The CALL in Conway and Faulkner Counties.
Stay tuned for updates, needs and the progress on our CALL House!
