I’m excited to share with you some big news! In the New Year, there will be some exciting transitions and changes to our area! I have accepted a new job and will be stepping down as County Coordinator for Boone & Newton Counties. My new job will be at Grandma’s House, the Children’s Advocacy Center in our area. Many of you are familiar with our children’s advocacy partners. We work very closely with several of these groups. I will begin working for them in January to allow time for transitions here.
Throughout the last several years, God has led my family on a journey through foster care and adoption ministry and it’s been a rocky road for sure! I’ve been able to work hand in hand with Grandma’s House to serve children who were placed in our home. I’ve seen children thrive and flourish thanks to their services. Now, I will get to work with those children on a daily basis! God is placing me in a different calling for this season of my life! I’m excited to see what this new partnership will look like for my family and for this ministry.
We have a transition team in place working through these changes with us at The CALL, but I’m not going anywhere. I plan to remain involved with The CALL, but it will be in a different capacity. I will definitely stay on as a trainer. My heart has always been to share with others my passion for fostering and adopting. My love for this ministry is strong. I was with the original team that brought The CALL to Boone County. I worked with the team that added Newton County with us earlier this year. My desire to raise awareness for children in foster care has not changed. My family has been greatly impacted by The CALL and all of their support over the last few years as we served as foster and adoptive parents. We are so thankful to you, our community, for your support. We truly have been blessed by all of your love, prayers, and faithfulness in supporting us on this journey together.
We are excited to announce to you that Jamie Phillips will be stepping in as the new County Coordinator for The CALL in Boone & Newton Counties! Jamie has filled many critical roles within our counties and has been an integral part of our success. We have the highest confidence in Jamie and look forward to her leadership of Boone & Newton Counties.
Thank you for being patient with us and for your prayers for myself, my family, and The CALL’s staff and volunteers throughout this time of transition. We are excited to see what God has in store for us as we continue to grow and change! We always say it takes a village to do this ministry and I’m excited to be on a new journey as our village is extended in a new direction!
God Bless you all and thank you for your prayers and continued support!
No child should ever have to carry their belongings in a trash bag. They deserve so much better. This amazing group of women decided to help us meet the immediate need when kids come into care! We love it when we put out a need and people show up and deliver! Junior Auxiliary showed up and blessed our kids in a major way! Thank you for such a generous donation of 144 duffel bags!!
We put the word out for church groups or community groups to help us with a bag collection a few weeks ago and never dreamed that a group would come through with so many duffel bags! We’ve had extension groups, women’s ministries, and individuals sew bags for us before, but this was a huge surprise!
One of the ladies from JA approached us and said they had just completed a fundraiser and wanted to use the proceeds to purchase duffel bags for the kids. We were so excited to be able to meet this immediate need for the kids in care!
This donation will allow us to help children carry their belongings to their new foster homes with dignity and move them to a place where they can begin to heal and process through their hurt and emotions. They are dealing with enough trauma, we wanted to do everything in our power to help them begin the healing process! We also use the bags as they head back to their homes with their families as part of the reunification process and sometimes as children move on to an adoption placement.
Thanks to the generosity of Junior Auxiliary, the children in foster care in Boone & Newton Counties are carrying their belongings in much better gear now! If you would like to help with this cause, please contact us to find out more about our ministry and how you can help become a part of the solution!
With lots of prayer and consideration we have taken on some more responsibility and area for us to serve. With great excitement we get to announce to you that we are now The CALL in Boone and Newton Counties.
We know that this means more work for us, but couldn’t find a reason to leave them without the support of The CALL. Please join us in prayer as we take this on. Pray for the church support we will need, pray that the people there will be receptive to the needs for more homes for the children in care, and that the volunteers and financial support will be provided. We feel this is a natural move for us and are thankful that God has chosen us to expand our ministry into another county. The bible says “Love your neighbor as yourself” that this is the greatest commandment. Mark 12:31 We are called to love on our neighbors and Newton County is that for us.
We’ve had a busy month in Boone County! Fair Week is one of our favorite times of the year! We had a very successful week visiting with members of the community sharing about The CALL. God is doing great things in our area.
We are always looking for ways to share about The CALL and how you or your church can help support the local foster families or reach out to friends and family and work together to help meet the needs in care, we would love to visit with you! The Fair is only one of the local venues we try to attend each year. If you know of another place we can speak, let us know! We would love to partner with you!
We are so thankful for the many volunteers that worked with us this week at our booth and helped us spread the word about The CALL.
Boone County started off the school year with a Back to School Bash!
We helped all of our foster families by providing backpacks, school supplies, water bottles, and a brand new pair of shoes for EVERY child in the house! That’s over 100 new pairs of shoes! God is so faithful to provide and meet the needs of kids in care. Because of our faithful church partners, we were able to not only meet those needs, but have enough extras to stock the CALL Mall with extras for kids that will come into care throughout the school year!
We are so thankful to the members of our community and our church partners for working with us to collect school supplies and donating funds to help us purchase the much needed items. We couldn’t do it without you!
