How is The CALL successfully mobilizing the Church, recruiting foster and adoptive families and attracting volunteers and donors? Teamwork, of course!
God calls the body of Christ to care for the abused, neglected and forgotten children and youth in foster care. He has uniquely gifted and equipped each one of us to play a distinct role in the body, and in showing the extravagant love of Christ to His precious kids in foster care.
Ephesians 4:11-12 teaches, “Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service.” Some will raise awareness. Some will foster or adopt. Some will teach. Some will support a family. Some will volunteer. Others will give to support the work.
We ARE the Body, and we are strongest when we work together in unity on behalf of God’s children! All of us, working together, according to God’s design, are changing lives and building the kingdom. All of us, working together according to God’s design, have the power to change lives.
I am grateful for foster and adoptive families, volunteers supporting families, church reps, county coordinators and leadership team members, trainers, pastors, and the hundreds of other volunteers. Thank you for answering God’s call and joining The CALL team!
Until there are more than enough!
I was first introduced to The CALL in 2013 after receiving an invitation to travel to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as a consultant with representatives from The CALL, Immerse AR, and Project Zero to visit 4KIDS Florida.
We have known each other for about 21 years and our first thoughts of adoption were about 6 years into our friendship and budding relationship. While talking on a ride home from college, we both expressed that God had laid on our hearts the desire to adopt.
In Feb of 2017 we were called about taking a teen girl placement.
At the time my daughters 12 and 15 and I had no plan on adding a teenager to the mix. We had taken infants to 5 year olds and that worked for our family.
I started praying in January 2015 for God to lead me down the path of having a baby or adopting. I was so sure having a baby was what I was going to do. Shortly after I prayed this specific prayer, my health took a toll in different ways. After two miscarriages and doctors, I found out having children was not an option for me.
