The Monk family

The CALL has certainly had a significant impact on my family and me. I joined the Statewide Board of The CALL in 2014, serving as an officer in 2016 and Board Chair in 2017. My first exposure to The CALL was over a decade ago when my wife, Jennifer, and I began to pursue international adoption. After a few years of legal delays, we felt called in the meantime to become foster parents. Being very inspired by The CALL and having already given financially to the organization, we chose to attend one of The CALL’s foster care training programs in 2008, completing the process to become foster/adoptive parents in 2010.

In February of 2011 we received our first foster placement of a twelve week old baby girl. Fostering her was an absolute privilege and delight! When her birth mother voluntarily relinquished her parental rights a few months later, we were thrilled to welcome her permanently to our family. With one other short-term placement complete, we were placed with a 20 month old toddler girl right before Christmas in 2012. The two little girls were only four months apart in age. A few short months later we were also able to add this little one to our growing family. These two little girls, Erin and Emma, have completely changed our lives for the better! It is such an honor to be their forever family, and none of it would have been possible without the training and support from The CALL.

I want to personally extend a very hearty thank you to all of our foster and adoptive families, partners, donors, staff, volunteers, and board members for your tireless efforts, prayers, generous giving, and support of The CALL. It is amazing to see how God has provided for the care and needs of foster children in Arkansas through all of you and this wonderful organization!

God bless,

Pledger Monk
